For GRP gratings as sandwich gratings, a GRP panel is applied to the gratings and a panel is also laminated to the underside. For this purpose, the concave surface of the grating is sanded away and then the GRP panel is laminated on and the underside is roughened to achieve a good laminated joint.
The panels in our products are usually 3 mm thick. However, the thickness can be adjusted according to the customer’s wishes and structural requirements.
Gratings can be finished with a sanded or chequer plate look. We generally recommend the sanded version, as this has better slip resistance than the chequer plate look.
Gratings with a closed surface type GRP-GES achieve serration class R13, while gratings with a chequer plate look type GRP-TR achieve serration class R10.
High chemical resistance
High slip resistance
Durability: Good corrosion and weather resistance
Gratings can be loaded in the supports and crossbar direction
Electrically insulating and low thermal diffusivity
High standing and walking comfort
High slip resistance
Relatively low tare weight = lower transportation costs
Resin finishes
Fire classes
Certificates & approvals
General type approval (abZ)
Lichtgitter is the first company in the world to receive general type approval for GRP gratings.
This eliminates the need for individual approvals.
EBA approval
Special requirements are placed on products and suppliers in the railroad sector. GRP-Products are becoming increasingly important here, as they are both weather and corrosion resistant and do not require additional earthing due to their electrical properties (electrically insulating, non-conductive).
Lichtgitter GRP gratings can now be supplied to Deutsche Bahn with EBA approval and certification in accordance with DBS 918 010.
